VIP Jeoun Transport Hikes Fares Across Ghana — Accra to Kumasi Now GH¢150

VIP Jeoun Transport has increased its bus fares across Ghana, effective Tuesday, April 8, 2026. The company announced the adjustment citing rising operational costs including fuel, vehicle maintenance, and spare parts.

New Fare Structure

The revised fares are as follows:

  • Accra to Kumasi (Executive): GH¢150
  • Accra to Tamale: GH¢360
  • Accra to Takoradi: GH¢110

First Fare Review in Two Years

VIP Jeoun Transport management stated that this is the company’s first fare review in two years. Despite persistent cost pressures from fuel price volatility and foreign exchange challenges affecting the cost of imported spare parts, the company had held fares steady until now.

The fare increase is expected to affect thousands of commuters who rely on VIP as one of Ghana’s most trusted intercity transport providers. VIP operates routes connecting Accra to major cities and towns across all regions of Ghana.

Industry Context

Ghana’s transport sector has faced sustained pressure from rising fuel prices, the depreciation of the cedi, and higher maintenance costs. Other bus companies have similarly reviewed fares over the past year. VIP Jeoun Transport’s decision brings its pricing more in line with current operational realities.

Passengers travelling on the Accra-Kumasi corridor are advised to budget accordingly for the increased fare. VIP buses remain a premium intercity option offering air conditioning, reserved seating, and set departure times.
