Zimbabwe’s Mnangagwa Concludes 3-Day State Visit to Ghana, Strengthening Bilateral Ties

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe concluded a three-day state visit to Ghana from April 1-3, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the relationship between the two nations.

A Grand Welcome

President Mnangagwa was received at the Jubilee Lounge of the Accra International Airport by President John Dramani Mahama, complete with a 21-gun salute and a review of the guard of honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces.

Key Engagements

The visit featured high-level bilateral engagements including a state banquet, a tete-a-tete between the two presidents, and expanded delegation talks. President Mnangagwa also toured the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, and paid homage at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

Agreements Signed

Ghana and Zimbabwe signed several key agreements:

  • Agreed Minutes on the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation
  • MoU on Political and Diplomatic Consultations
  • MoU on Cooperation in Research, Training and Documentation between the Foreign Service Institutes of both countries

The bilateral talks focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, sanitation, and joint efforts to tackle corruption and unemployment.
