Trump Orders Navy to ‘Shoot and Kill’ Iranian Boats Laying Mines in Hormuz; Pezeshkian Fires Back

President Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. military to “shoot and kill” any Iranian small boats laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, telling reporters “there is to be no hesitation” in carrying out the order.

The instruction immediately escalated the naval standoff in one of the world’s most critical chokepoints, where the IRGC has been accused of mine-laying operations alongside the seizure of two container ships earlier this week.

Tehran Hits Back

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued near-identical social-media statements rejecting Trump’s framing of a leadership rift inside the Islamic Republic:

“In Iran there are no ‘hard-liners’ or ‘moderates’. We are all Iranians and revolutionaries.”

Pezeshkian added that with the “iron unity of nation and government, and complete obedience to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, we will make the criminal aggressor regret his actions.”

Witkoff-Kushner Trip Cancelled

  • Trump simultaneously cancelled the planned Witkoff-Kushner trip to Pakistan for talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
  • The U.S. Navy continues an iron-clad blockade from the Gulf of Oman.
  • The U.S. Treasury sanctioned an additional 19 vessels this week under an action branded “Economic Fury”.
  • Iran’s FM Araghchi met Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad anyway.

The combined diplomatic collapse and shoot-to-kill order leaves the Hormuz crisis at its most dangerous point since the war began in early 2026.
